My Calorie requirements? : Your professional opinion please?
I've been searching online for a few days trying to find out my calorie requirements for weight loss. However, the calculations vary a lot and sometimes conflict with each other. I'd like to hear from a real professional. Here's my stats:
Male, 36, 5'8, 210lbs
I'm a teacher, I watch a lot of TV and play video games during the week. Not very active outside of school except...
I workout at the gym 1.5h, 4 times a week. 30min running / 1 hour moderate, full-body weight training.
My weekends are moderately active. Walking around the city, shopping with my SO.
My goal:
I want to lose 2lbs / week.
I've been trying calories from 1700 (starving!) and 3000 full but feeling like I ate too much. I've been tending to yo-yo around that range through the week, depending on how hungry I am on a particular day.
How many calories should I be taking in on a daily basis?
For fastest weight loss, eat only 1,500 calories. It takes a few days (about 3-7) for your body to stop feeling hungry, but you eventually will get used to less food. Eat 5-7 times per day, small meals, and eat high fiber meals to feel full. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water, as the body will occasionally confuse thirst for hunger. Also, negative calorie foods, like apples and celery, offer no calories, but still take up space in your stomach. Your workout routine seems pretty good, but you can increase intensity to see more results. Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to email me.
