Is it legal to carry Nunchucks (or Nunchaku) if the two sticks are not connected?
I live in CA and the law here is that Nunchaku are altogether illegal unless you're physically in a martial arts class practicing with them. I am traveling to Arkansas on a plane and I have two sticks in my check luggage and a short chain on my keychain which I will be carrying with me onto the plane. Technically I don't have "Nunchackus" because the sticks aren't attached. What's your professional opinion?
Under TSA rules, you can be questioned and stopped for carrying the items that can make a weapon. Taking nunchucks apart does not make them two sticks with a chain.
My personal and professional opinion is you stand a possibility of being detained, missing your flight and possibly be arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. If you feel this is worthwhile, go for it. Best advice is that if you need this for a valid reason, I would mail it ahead.
